Battlefield Tour- 2012

Trip Summary.

Day #1

We arrived in Paris around mid day (local time) on April 29th. We began our tour with a trip to the Eiffel Tower within a couple of hours of getting off the airplane. The majority of the Cadets and Staff climbed to the second highest observation deck of the tower, due to the strong wind, we were not permitted to go any higher.

2850 Mess Dinner

On December 19th, 2012, Grande Prairie’s 2850 Army Cadet Corp held their 10th Annual Christmas Mess Dinner and Awards. The dinner was held at the ANAVETS Club, in their Banquet facilities. Capt. Brian Lynch, from 577 RCACS gave a short talk on the Duke of Edinburgh Award and how a Cadet could fit the Award criteria in with the Cadet program. After a wonderful buffet supper, Awards were handed out.

Fun with Geocaching

2850 Grande Prairie wanted to up the game for their fall exercise so Geocaching was introduced. Four geocache starter kits were purchased and prepared to be hidden. Permission was obtained from the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club to hide the caches along ski trails as this area is often used for our field exercises.

Medicine Hat Cadet Competes at the World Peace Games in London

With the support of the Army Cadet League of Canada Alberta Southern Zone, Green Star Cadet Kolten Gerbrandt from 2313 Medicine Hat South Alberta Light Horse (Kiwanis) Army Cadet Corps is participating in the World Peace Games in Telford England from the 17 to 19th of August 2012. His dedication in cadets is matched with the dedication he puts in to the martial art of Karate.

Diamond Jubilee Medal

Terry Martin receives Diamond Jubilee Medal

President Bill Hart (left) presented Past President Terry Martin (right) with the Diamond Jubilee Medal on Saturday, September 15th at the Southern Zone meeting in Calgary.

This well-deserved medal was presented to Mr. Martin for outstanding accomplishments during his tenure as League Representative, Southern Zone Chair and of course Provincial President. His hard work over 15 years was recognized for extended dedication, service and loyalty to the Canadian Cadet Movement, and the Army Cadet League of Canada - Alberta.

 

Kozar Cup

On May 5th, 2012, the Lecture Training Facility on the Canadian Forces Base in Edmonton, Alberta was the scene of a very tough and much-loved competition for Army Cadet Corps throughout the province. The prestigious 2012 Kozar Cup Drill Competition.

Train to be a Cadet Instructor

Officers of the Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) are members of the Canadian Forces Reserve whose primary duty is the supervision, administration and training of teenaged youth of the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets in Corps and Squadrons across Canada. Opportunities exist for summer full time employment at any of the Cadet Summer Training Centres located throughout Canada.

Camp Howard is a rustic camp operated by The Alberta Army Cadet League, Southern Zone.

The Camp is located approximately 80 km. northwest of Cochrane, Alberta, in the Waiparous Creek Forestry Area. The land itself is owned by Her Majesty the Queen in Right of the Province of Alberta, and is administered by Alberta Sustainable Resource Development.
